I've been feeling poorly this weekend, so the only thing I've gotten done so far was writing a big check to Van's for the finish kit. I've only been working on this a year and already I'm ordering the last of the four major kit sections. I thought this was really cool until I read in the latest RVator about some guy who built his entire airplane in like 86 days. Oh well.

Ordered the finish kit
Saturday, May 27th, 2006Horsies
Saturday, May 13th, 2006I built these two sawhorses today. They're getto-sturdy. I'll be using them to hold the fuselage during the wing mating process pretty soon.
Paper dolls
Tuesday, April 25th, 2006I was too tired to work much on the plane, so I read ahead in the plans a bit. Looks like the mating of the wings is coming up not too long from now. I measured the plane and the garage, then made little paper cutouts to see if I'll be able to get both wings on and keep the airplane completely inside the garage. Sadly, no – even if I arrange things diagonally it won't all quite fit. One wing will have to protrude outside instead. Darn.
Still a few things to do until I get to that point, though.
Off to Sun-n-Fun
Tuesday, April 4th, 2006Well, I was going to fabricate the brake doubler plate for the firewall tonight, but my bandsaw broke a pulley, so that's out. Stupid plastic parts. I ordered a couple new ones from the local Delta parts warehouse, hopefully to arrive before I get back from Sun-n-Fun next week.
Uh-Oh, Toto
Sunday, March 12th, 2006Well, I was going to work on the plane, but the day started with thunderstorms and tornadoes that knocked down my fence. I spent most of the day either waiting out severe weather or digging out this broken fencepost.
The server that hosts this site also got zapped by lightning and needed a new network card. At least I still have electricity and a roof, unlike some of my neighbors.
