Because I'm a slow builder (and I had an unavoidable pause in my project) my propeller has reached its 12-year life limit despite the fact that it's still sitting in its box. I decided I didn't want to have to worry about the effects of time on the rubber seals, so I hauled it up to Western Aircraft Propeller, which is located in the foothills of Mt. Hood:
I didn't want to take too many pictures inside since people were working, but it's basically just one big hangar full of machinery and propellers in various states of repair. Nice people too, plus everybody brings their dogs to work. There have got to be worse jobs in aviation.
A few weeks later and a few hundred dollars poorer, I got my propeller back with all new seals, all AD's checked, and a new sticker in the prop logbook. This whole effort may or may not have been necessary, but it makes me feel better and now I don't have to worry about it.
